Trout Unlimited's mission is "to conserve, protect and restore North America's trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds."  TU accomplishes this mission on local, state and national levels with an extensive and dedicated volunteer network.  TU's national office and its regional offices employ professionals who testify before Congress, publish a quarterly magazine, intervene in federal legal proceedings, and work with the organization's 152,000 volunteers in 450 chapters nationwide to keep them active and involved in conservation issues.  More information about TU's action network, conservation initiatives, educational programs can be found at www.tu.org.

The geographic area of the Mountain Empire Chapter includes Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, Washington, and Wythe Counties.  Chapter programs and activities include:  Trout in the Classroom, stream clean ups, education programs, stream restoration, community events and fundraisers.  We also lend a hand to regional fisheries biologists in their efforts to conserve trout populations.  It is our intention to make a positive impact on imperiled coldwater habitats in our region.

Our Chapter's motto is "Keep it Fun!"  All of our members love to fish, and sharing fishing stories is a big reward for our hard work on the water.  We encourage you to consider joining with us to make a difference in the health of our region's waterways, and have a lot of fun!

Membership

Membership is open to anyone who is interested in participating in the stewardship of our local coldwater fisheries. Membership dues are handled through Trout Unlimited National and an application can be found online at www.tu.org.
