National Fishing in the Schools Program

Chapter members Aaron Floyd and Lisa Benish will talk about the National Fishing in the Schools Program—a course they teach in the public school system to 5th-10th grade students in a physical education class.  This might spark interest for METU members to act as mentors for the program and help get the program started in your area.

Simple Fly Rod Repair

Veteran fly fishermen John Rice, Bob Quillen and Dan Long will share their repair tips with us.  Solutions to broken guides, amputated tips, cork handle problems and other rod injuries will be discussed by these pros.

Saturday, April 4th – 3rd Annual “Fish On” Event, Holston Hills Community Golf Course, Marion, VA.  Co-sponsored by the Town of Marion and METU in celebration of Heritage Day.  METU provides fly fishing instruction, stream insect identification, educational materials, prizes and more!

Saturday, May 5th – 3rd Annual “Tee Off for Trout” Golf Tournament, Saltville Golf Course, Saltville, VA.  METU’s biggest and best fundraiser of the year!
